Reading

IGR will begin on September 13th. Until that time we will be doing whole class reading activities using both fiction and nonfiction texts. We will be focusing on reading strategies and elements of literature.

Monthly Reading Hours

Every night students are asked to read for 20 minutes or more and record their total minutes on their reading hour calendars. At the end of the month, parents are asked to add up the total hours their child has read during the month and sign the calendar. Reading hour calendars are due at the first of every month. Any student who has read 10 or more hours during the month will be invited to a dessert party. Our goal is for every student to read at least 100 hours by the end of the school year.
